Burns Day

Wow what a great time we had. Not only on Burns Day but indeed the buildup to the day itself.

We managed due to Elaine’s skills on Facebook to get a ‘real’ piper to come along to the home to ‘Pipe in the Haggis’.

As you will see from the photos the home was all decorated up for the occasion with an abundance of tartan and Scottish artefacts.

Vince read a poem from Robert Burns, “An address to a haggis” before it was served with tatties and neaps for lunch. Dessert was the popular dish called Cranachan (which is raspberries whisky and honey cream layered with porridge oats).

The children from Jenny and Sara’s came along to join in all the fun, and thoroughly enjoyed their Scottish experience.

There was a variety of Scottish dishes on the weekly menu, including Kedgeree, Scottish Stovies, Scottish dumplings, Nana’s fruit bread, Scottish cheeses and oatcakes to name a few!
