We like to celebrate all cultural events and we always enjoy the festival of Eid al Fitr which marks the end of the fasting for Ramadan.
It coincides with the day after the sighting of the crescent moon, indicating the arrival of the new moon, and kick starting the month of Shawwal where everybody ‘feasts’ and celebrates.
During Eid, Muslims will purchase new cloths, exchange gift and cards and meet up with extended family members.
Our celebrations involved decorating place mats and feasting on a curry with all sorts of side dishes, followed by a Chawal ki Kheer (Special Eid rice pudding). All very much enjoyed, thanks to Mandy (the chef).
