We seized the opportunity to extend World Radio Day by having a Radio week!!
During this time we looked at the evolution of the radio from ‘wireless’ to how it is today.
We are lucky enough to have an early 1950’s radio, which we got Vince to take the back off, so that we could see the workings. The sound quality is superb, and we’ve enjoyed listening to various channels (and also seeing what channels were once available on the dial).
There was also a visit to the local radio station, Harbour Radio . Nev and his team were on hand to make us feel most welcome and show us around. There is even a recording studio there. You have no idea whats on the doorstep so to speak!
Graham, Sue, Ethel and Elaine took to the airwaves talking about the reason for their visit and then a general chat about music. What an amazing experience. Nev has suggested that he does a live broadcast from the home one day, so watch this space!
There were radio quizzes and a ‘Name that voice’ game, along with vintage footage of Radio Caroline being shown on the big screen.
It really was a very interesting week, as you will see by the photos.
