To commemorate the centenary of the first world war, Ealing House decided to honour those who served in the war with a special display.
Having had a planning meeting it was put forward that a wall of poppies cascading from the first floor of the building would be suitably honourable.
Work began at the end of August when the poppies were designed, cut out, and then painted using plastic bottles. There was also another design using red cup cake cases! The production line began, with poppy fever taking over as we soon realised we would need about 1000 poppies to complete our task.
These then all needed to be attached to a net, as you can imagine it was a painstaking task, but well worth all the effort.
Then the help of Neil (Jenny’s dad) was needed, to design and make a Tommy. Wow what a fantastic job he did.
I think you’ll agree the finished result was amazing.
What a team.
Well done to everyone who helped to fulfil our vision and produce such a fitting tribute to those who fought in WW1.
