That’s right, everyone else has a Sports Day, but here at Ealing House we had a Sports Week!!
What fun it was. There was a full programme of events with something on during morning and afternoon activities. Freshly prepared lemonade, (made by the residents) was served during or after each event to quench the thirst of the participants. It was lovely, and tasted just like we remembered from ‘The old Days’.
Two teams were formed, The ‘Martham Gigglers’, and ‘The Ealing Wanderers’, with players then being selected for each team. Score sheets were prepared; adjudicator was allocated and it was GAME ON!!!!
As you will see by the photos it was lots of fun and enabled everyone to become involved as activities were adapted to individual needs.
All games were fun, but the ones which have been talked about most were the archery, and the golf. So have a close look at those photos!
The week ended with one of our infamous ‘Tea time Quizzes’. Needless to say with a sporting theme. It was great to have so many family and friends come along to enjoy this with us. It makes a lovely social occasion, and stretches our general knowledge at the same time!
The evening ended with a presentation ceremony, for the lucky winners (and runners up). The overall Champions were The Martham Gigglers. Congratulations to you all. With special temporary medals being given to those individuals who won events (or who came second!) It was all taken in good humour, who says its the taking part, when there’s a medal at stake. Trophy’s will be given out at a later date so that there is time to identify the achievement of the individuals.
(Special Thank to Elaine for her boundless energy and commitment in making each event come to life)
