The Scarecrow Festival
We were delighted to take part in this year’s scarecrow festival which took place over May Day Bank Holiday weekend.
Tyna had been getting everyone knitting squares for the best part of a year! My goodness the results were amazing as you can see. She managed to join the squares together to make a River Bank Scene covering a kayak, an oar, fishing rod, landing net and much more! For the river bank, there was an array of wildlife including; hedgehogs, frogs, mice, a swan with her cygnets, and even maggots for the Wally the fisher man! The detail was incredible.
As you can see the weather was gorgeous, enabling everyone to go outside to meet the many visitors who came to see us.
To make people appreciate all the hard work that went into the display we held a ‘quiz’ asking for them to count or find items; with a sweet treat as a reward. There was also a Photo ‘Selfie’ competition with some funny and creative photos sent in. It made it very difficult to choose but following much deliberation over a coffee the residents chose these two winners.
CONGRATULATIONS to them and Tyna for making it so special.
