This was the title James Ewing and his friend Paul Shultzer gave themselves as they set off for their adventure from Martham to Munich by bicycle. The pair both 21 met whilst on a gap year visiting Australia, James is from Norfolk, and Paul is from Tier in Germany.
Initially this was going to be their two week holiday, but as the time drew closer they decided to do it as a fundraising exercise for Ealing House Residential Care Home in Martham.
They set off from the home were some of the residents were able to wave them off with flags and banners that they had made.
James and Paul set up a ‘Daily Blog’ so the residents and any other of their friends and family could follow them on their journey, as they added maps and photos along the way.
Elaine Southern the entertainment coordinator at Ealing House was able to show the residents these entries on her own electronic ‘tablet’ device.
They were thoroughly enjoyed, as was the modern technology! Giving many of the residents their first taste of social media!
So with the £250 raised, the residents were presented with their own ‘tablet’ device by James Ewing on his return to Martham last weekend.
This device will enable the residents to have face to face conversations with family and friends, and learn to surf the web!
The remainder of the money has allowed Christmas Eve Entertainment to be booked. So grateful ‘Thanks’ go to James and Paul for all their tremendous effort for Ealing House.
(Oh yes they had their hair dyed blonde at Ealing House the day before they set off, but it turned out ginger!)
James was also the first person to Skype Ealing House the following week.
